Ask Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to Configure Your Router
If you have a dual band router deployed by your ISP, you may need to make some configuration changes in order for your Remo+ device to work with it. If you are uncomfortable doing this yourself, or your ISP doesn’t permit it, you can ask your ISP to do it for you. They won’t have to come to your house for this, they can do it remotely from their end.
Any one of these three options will facilitate the ability for your Remo+ device to connect to your WiFi network at 2.4 Ghz.
- Split the bands – Create two separate networks by renaming the frequency bands; 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz, with different SSIDs (network names). Make sure the 2.4GHz network has a password, WPA2 encryption, and the wireless mode 802.11 b/g or b/g/n mixed.
- Enable the ‘Guest’ or ‘IoT’ network – If the router supports a Guest or IoT network, ask if they can enable one or the other at 2.4 GHz. Make sure it has a password, WPA2 encryption, and the wireless mode 802.11 b/g or b/g/n mixed.
- Disable band steering – If the router is dual band and using band steering, (aka adaptive steering, client steering, smart WiFi), ask them if they can disable it so that your 2.4 GHz security device can work properly.
